Students raise funds

The oldest students (10th grade) at Víðistaðaskóli hold bingo to raise funds for those who have little money. The church, Hafnarfjarðarkirkja, will give the money to those who are in need before Christmas. Bingo was well attended and gathered a good amount.

Dansanpera

The first of  December in Joan Sanpera  we are celebrating our school Centenary.  We are busy practicing our dance for the Big day.  Our PE teacher and our music teacher are showing us what to do.

Table Tennis at playtime

Our Year 6 table tennis qualifying competition has started.  The competitors play  two 11 points games and the winners go to the next round until they reach the final.  The competition is held at playtime.

Practice running


This month our student took some time from the books to practice running.  It is an annual event and the goal is to encourage students to practice running and enhanced outdoor activities and exercise. We are also introducing and explaining to our students the need to try on their body’s. Hopefully it will increase students understanding for better health and wellness.  Next week three classes are participating in “Race for survival”  http://everyone.org/tag/race-for-survival/

In 2012 we celebrate the American Day in our school. Students presented the general information about history, geography and culture of the United States as well as famous Polish- American. We dressed up as American celebrities and tasted delicious American food. Tigers -the American football team explained us rules of American football.

In February every year Icelandic student dresses up in costume.  This day is called Öskudagur (Ash Wednesday).  It is a tradition from Europe to celebrate before fast days in Catholic religion.  Established church in Iceland is now Evangelist Luther and every citizen can participate if they choose.   This tradition has change from the middle ages and to day Children sing for candies and the school day is unconventional.

Hello from OLSG

Hello
We are Our Lady and St George's Primary School. It is great to be part of this blog with you. We are looking forward to working with you and finding out about your school.
Our School is on two sites and is in Walthamstow. The photo below is of our Town Hall.

Hello!

A big Hello to all the children and teachers from Our Lady and St George's Catholic Primary School and Nursery.
We are a Primary school in les Franqueses del Vallès, a village 30 kilometres from Barcelona. Our school is big with lots of children and teachers. We are a happy school.
At the end of the year our school is going to be be 100 years old and we have been doing lots of things to celebrate this Big Birthday.
